Staff Report
Tri-Central
left Hamilton Heights High School Saturday having fallen short of its ambitious
goal of a team sectional championship. However, the Trojans did establish
themselves as an emerging small school power in Indiana. They ended third in
the team standings after a spirited battle with champion Noblesville and
runner-up Pendleton Heights. Noblesville claimed the title with 196 points.
Pendleton had 185.5 and the Trojans tallied 177.
Tri-Central
had 11 wrestlers score by placing among the top six in their respective weight
classes. That included two champions, two seconds, and three third place
finishers. Hayden Buck won the title at 140 lbs. and Montrail Johnson did the
same at 145 lbs. Johnson’s performance in the finals was one of the highlights
of the day’s action. He pinned his opponent in overwhelming fashion.
